So when I was a kid I LOVED Spiderman. I watched the TV show, read some comics and got a big encyclopedia of all things spiderman. It was great.
Then I discovered X-Men and went about pretty much the exact same process.
Funny how I look back at X-Men now and it bugs me how convoluted it is when that was what I loved about it when I was a kid.
Anyway, I’ve been listening to a lot of Turisas new album “Stand Up and Fight”. Particular tracks to note are “March of the Vargarian Guard”, “Fear the Fear” and “Supernaut”.
Last night on Good Game they had a particularly well done feature on Perma-Death. This has me thinking and considering going about trying a game while imposing a perma death rule on myself. For some strange reason I am considering trying it with an RPG. Could be cool.
Lastly, I’ve been really trying to get back into Starcraft 2. It’s great fun with friends and I’m planning to look for some pubbie tournaments to enter for shits and giggles.
Futhermore, Progress on my second book is going quite well.
I’ve started work on polishing Digital Seven now that its finished, I’m probably going to send off a few copies to friends to give me feedback on it. Then look at publishing options after further polishing it.
I also started on my second book which is a gothic/fantasy short story collection thing called “The Stuff Of Nightmares”. It’s already going quite well and I’m looking at a much faster turnaround than Digital Seven. It helps that it is a shorter book than D7.
I cannot wait to see how things unfold in next weeks finale of Dexter. Such a great series.
Player Affinity is going well and I’ve got a bunch of work to do for that this week .
So yesterday I finished replaying Dragon Age: Origins. It was my second playthrough of the game and I loved it! I actually started playing it again to prepare for Dragon age 2 but when circumstances aligned and combined to prevent me from playing that game I kept playing through it anyway.
I played it very differently to how I did in my first playthrough. I played a Dwarf Warrior Commoner and spend most of the game without a healer. I spent much more time this playthrough playing with Shen and Shale in my party and also romanced Liliana rather than Morgana this time. I also managed to convince Alistair and Anora to marry and executed Logain myself.
The game ended with Alistair sacrificing himself to end the blight which almost brough a tear to my eye.
So a friend of mine gave me 8 seasons of Smallville and I’ve recently been watching that.
I did watch Smallville for a bit like 5 or so years ago but stopped watching it when they took it off Free to Air TV.
Its cool to return to the series and I absolutely love it. At the moment I’m upto Season 4 and just watched the episode “Run” which featured The Flash. Loving the show and cannot wait to watch the rest of it.
I think the reason that I like it is because once Clark Kent becomes Superman he just becomes rather boring to me. The writing in Smallville is wonderful and the show delights in symbolism and foreshadowing towards Clarks future as the Man of Steel.
I found a publishing option for Digital Seven that works perfectly. The book is going to be published on Smashwords which means that it will be available in eBook format on basically all eBook fronts including the iBooks store. I will also maybe looks at self publishing a paperback edition but the book will debut in an eBook format.
I’m also going to be looking at submitting some short stories to The Inter-Galactic Medicine Show and Lightspeed.
Lastly on the writing front, I’m currently brainstorming about my collection of short stories called “The Stuff of Nightmares” and feeling like starting that soon.
Im really excited for where Supernatural is going.
Theres only a few episodes of Season 5 left and I’m very interested to see how it will play out. I’m excited that they finally worked out how to stop Lucifer and that they are going to set out to do it immediately.
I really liked the idea of each of the four horsemen having a ring which Sam and Dean must collect.
In fact I really like Supernatural as a show. Even if it has stretched this apocalypse storyline out to apocalyptic lengths.
Tonights episode was a particularly great with the gods of the other worldly religions banding together to try and stop Lucifer. Oh and they threw The Trickster/Gabriel into the mix. I particularly loved the line said by Sam when him and Dean realised that they were surrounded by Gods.
OK. I just had one of the funniest and awesome days in years and I want to document it.
So I get to school and first period I have study which I spent finishing my Art Assignment and discussing just how fun study periods are.
Then I have Math which due to my friend Matt being away for that period involved me making a friend who I plan to play some LoL with in the near future. Oh and we did the Math work. That too.
Then we had double English.
English Part 1- First 30 minutes is all I need to finish the work. Then a friend of mine decides to become a RUMORMONGER and spread rumors about people right in front of our awesome sub who yells at him. This slowly evolves into an awesome shout-off about how the English trace their roots back to France.
English Part 2- Spend first 10 minutes of lesson discussing current affairs. Then someone asks our sub “Whats your favourite sport?” and he responds with “Starcraft”.
We then spend the next 20 minutes discussing Starcraft Meta strategy.
Then I have Art in which I make some good progress.
Then we have Math again and this time we get our exam results. This kid gets the highest mark in our year and this is unexpected. He then leaves the room to go and get a drink and when he returns….
His Desk, chair and all his possessions have been flipped upside down and his sports shoes have been hidden around the room.
After he reclaims his items he goes upto ask the teacher something and we all point at this kid. He looks at us dumbfounded.
Then he sits down and the whole class starts whispering “Shoes….Shoessssss…..” and slipping the word Shoe into everyday conversation. It drives him crazy.
So yeah great day. And yes all this hilarity did occur at the cost of my education as I finished all my work in every lesson despite the hilarity that ensued.
It seems like Season Four of Dexter is all about “Things not being what they seem”. At the start of the season it seemed fairly straightforward and the story has led the characters to make decisions that they wouldnt have done if they knew the whole story. Characters have been introduced with certain assumptions and these assumptions are then overthrown to make way for a new set of assumed truths which are then later ignored.
It finally hit me tonight, last nights episode of Hawaii Five O highlighted the flaws with the show and featured some of the most cringeworthy product placement I have ever seen.
The product placement I speak of occured when the characters were at an Art Gallery and one of the said “Bing it!” and then proceeded to search an artist using BING on a WINDOWS PHONE and then proclaimed how great it was.
The tone of the episode was also waaay to serious for a show that consists of three things.
A sarcastic and somewhat amusing relationship between Dano and Steve
Average procedural and predictable investigations
Call of Duty style gunfights.
While the episode featured these elements with a severe reduction on the first element, it was all overshadowed by SERIOUSNESS.
So I dunno if I will continue watching it, Smallville is quite good at the moment…
As I come to the end of my first novel “Digital Seven”, I wonder what I’m actually going to do with it once I finish it and edit it.
Part of me wants to throw it at a print publisher, but theres always the pessimistic part of me which tells me that my writing is not quite good enough.
Part of me wants to try and publish it as an eBook but I have no idea how such a thing would go.
Part of me wants to put it together as an eBook available as an App on the Appstore, however I have no idea how to put together an ebook reader for iOS nor do I have the money to pay the development fee’s.
The final part of me thinks I should just throw the novel up on Feedbooks and give it to the internet FOR FREE.
Anyway, still got one Act to finish so well see how things are when we get to the end.
