So I put up that last blog post without my New Years Resolution on it.
But before we get to that. I made an important discovery today.
I’ve had this problem with my writing for the longest time. I write my stories hugely complex and then write them really fast. What this means is that I write my stories too quick and the word count ends up lower than I would like. For those who dont know, the usual length for a novel is about 50,000 to 75,000 words.
The way I’ve found I can get around my problem is actually quite ingenius. If I cant write A novels worth from one story, I’ll write it from more than one story. This means that with Digital Seven im fitting an entire 7 part series into the one book and with Raven Rising im fitting the Trilogy structured story as one book.
On the matter of my writing, Ive gone back to writing Digital Seven and realised that Digital Seven and Raven Rising could not be further from eachother. Working on Digital Seven which is a slower more methodical and dramatic story than Raven Rising is somewhat Cathartic(Is that right?)
Now for the main event.
My New Years Resolution was inspired by something that a fellow I follow on Twitter said. He is a game journalist named Dylan Burns and he said that his New Years resolution was to be more picky with what games he would play as he discovered this year that he physically cannot play them all.
My New Years resolution is something similiar Im going to be more picky about which games I plan to get this year. Especially since they will all go for bargain bin prices at the next Xmas sale anyways. There are some must buys(Mass Effect 3) but particularly for early this year I will have to work out which titles I want to get out of Brink, Bulletstorm, Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2 and more!
